Cavan: author of the MS. account of the Beatty family quoted above, entered T.C.D. 3 June 1811, aged 15, B. A. 1816; M. A. 1832, m. 18 January 1820, Charlotte Wakefield, 4th dau. of John Nicholson of Skamore? House, co. Down, and aunt of the famous Brigadier John Nicholson and d. 21 January 1878, aged 82, having had by her who d 14 March 1883, three sons and two daus, Viz:-

II. Thomas Berkeley Beatty, Surgeon-General, Indian army, B.A., T.C.D. 1850, M.B. and M.D. 1861; b 4 Nov. 1827, m firstly at Karrachi, Scindo?, 4 March 1854, Jane Cleland, oldest dau. of Major-Gen. Alexander Woodburn, C.B., Bombay Infantry. He m secondly at St. Peters, Dublin, 17 Oct. 1861, Sarah Augusta, dau of George Ellis, M.B., F.R.C.S.L. of Leison Street, Dublin, and by her, who d 25 Dec. 1884, had at least 2 sons and an only dau:-
1. Lionel Nicholson Beatty, C.M.G. (1 Jan. 1919), Lieut.-Col. Bombay Lancers, Indian Army, Temp. Brig.-Gen., b. May 1867
2. Guy Archibald Hastings Beatty, C.M.G. (3 June 1919), D.S.O. (1917) with bar (4 Feb. 1918). Lieut. Col. Bengal Lancers, Indian Army, b. 22 June 1870

Beatty, m thirdly at St. Michael's, Chester Square, London, 21 Oct. 1885, Louisa Victoria, youngest dau. of Adam Copper of Belfast, and niece of Dr. Houston, Q.C. of Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin, and d at Ethelstone, Monkstown, co. Dublin, 28 Nov. 1916, in his 89th year, having had at last 2 other sons.
