Farren Morrise [Farranmaurice ?] and the half cartron of Ranodoone in 1654 or 1655, and the quarter of Knocknashay from this Deponent and his brother John Gryer being part of Listlea, and this Deponent received from Plt. for his own share of sd lands £16. That Plt. enjoyed a number of acres (quantity thereof this Deponent does not know) in Tullycossinbegg and Tullycossinmore as guardian to Deft. David Betty and has heard Plt. say he did trust Henry Hughes, Esq., to manage Deft. David Betty’s interest therein in the Court of Claims, but that Plt. did not employ Hughes about his own lands (4) Knows that Hughes was possessed of 5 or 6 acres in Tullycossinmore on behalf of Deft. David Betty, but for how long cannot say. That Deft. by the consent of his step-father, the Plt., did commence a suit agst Hughes and did obtain a Decree. This Deponent saw three bonds of £12 each passed to Deft. by Hughes for the maine profits of the lands for the time that Hughes withheld same and for charges of the suit (5) Heard there was an agreement made by Deft. to Plt. but was not present.
John Gryer of Ballysadara, yeoman, aged 50 (1) knows Plt. and Deft., and the lands of Tullycossinbegg and Tullycossinmore ever since they were given out by Debenture. Did know Wm. Betty deceased. (2) That Wm. Betty had lands due him for service in Ireland but they were not laid out to him in his lifetime. (3) That Plt. purchased from this Deponent and from Robert Gryer, Robert Blake, Robert Johnston and Thomas Dodd the lands of Tullycossinbegg & Tullycossinmore except 6 acres, and from this Deponent and his brother Robert Gryer the quarter of Knocknahue being part of Listlea, and from Thomas Dodd the half quarter of Farrinmorrise and the half cartron of Ranadoone being also part of Listlea, and this Deponent received from Plt. for his proportion of sd lands £7-17/6 about 24 years since. Does not know if Plt. had any lands as guardian to Deft. or enjoy any number of acres in Tullycossinbegg or Tullycossinmore, in right of Deft.., knows because this Deponent and sd Robert Gryer, Robert Blake, Thomas Dodd, and Robert Johnston were comrades and had three proportions of Tullycossinbegg and Tullycossinmore as by debenture. (4) Does not know of any lands claimed by Henry Hughes in trust in Tullycossinbegg & Tullycossinmore, but that Deft. commenced a suit agst Hughes to recover same in trust for Plt., and that Plt. gave Deft. £6 to get the decree agst Hughes, and also a further £3, viz. £10 in all and that Hughes gave possession of the lands to Deft. This Deponent saw 3 or 4 bonds given by Hughes to Deft. to pay £38 in pursuance of the Decree obtained by Deft. (5) nil.
Thomas Rea of Clooneene, yeoman, aged 50 (1) knows Plt and Deft, and the lands of Tullycossinbegg and Tullycossinmore ever since Robert Gryer and his brother John and others sold them to Plt. about 23 or 24 years ago. Did not know Wm. Betty deceased. (2) Heard that Wm. Betty had lands due him for service done in Ireland but they were not laid out till after he dec’d. That Plt. was possessed of about 12 acres in Listleabegg in right of the Deft. and was so possessed for about 3 or 4 years when they were taken from Plt., with his own land, by Lord Carlingford (3) That Plt. purchased Tullycossinbegg from Robert and John Gryer and 6 acres in Tullycossinmore from Thomas Dodd, and that Plt. as Guardian to Deft.
