August 25 & 26, 1754. Between Claudius Beatty of Aughleragh, Co. Cavan, clothier & John West of Drimdarkin, Co. of Leitrim. “Reciting that Guy Floyd of Belough in the Co. of Norfolk in England Esq. did by Indenture of Lease dated the nineteenth day of Feb. One thousand seven hundred & thirty six demise unto the s’d Claudius Beatty the Town and Lands of Cloone in the Co. of Leitrim Bo. of Mohill…for the natural lives of the said Claudius Beatty and Archibald Beatty his eldest son & George Beatty his second son…” Land released to John West for the sum of £50, with a proviso of redemption that if the £50 is repaid the lease is to be void. Witnesses: Francis West of Keelagh, Co. Leitrim & Arthur Donnelly of Gurtenorum, Co. Leitrim, dealer. Memorial is also witnessed by John Rack of Cloone, Co. Leitrim. Registered April 29, 1755. |
