“A memorial of two several Indorsements bearing date respectively the twenty fifth day of October one thousand seven hundred and fifty two and the twelfth day of May one thousand seven hundred and fifty three on the back of a Deed of Mortgage made the fifteenth day of October one thousand seven hundred and forty seven by John Beaty (sic) of the Town and County of Monaghan Gent to Wm. Carroll of Castleshean in the county of Monaghan aforesaid Gent of all that messuage or tenement in the Town of Monaghan adjoining to the Church yard of the s’d town fronting the Marketplace with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging then in the possession of Robert Forster, Francis McKenna & John Burgess all of the said town and county of Monaghan, merchants during the lives in the indenture of lease therein mentioned renewable forever and also of the three tates of Mullaghinshogagh [Mullaghinshigo], Mullaghtimon & Tullygonistt with the Mountain Barrs thereunto belonging situate in the parish of Tedavnet & County of Monaghan aforesaid for and in consideration of eight hundred pounds.” John Beatty borrowed an additional sum of £200 from Wm Carroll on May 12, 1753. The witnesses on the 1752 deed are Brabazon Noble and Thomas Noble both of Donamine, Co. Monaghan. The witnesses on the 1753 deed are Robert Burgess of the Town & Co. of Monaghan, merchant & John Nesbitt “late of the same Innkeeper.” The Memorial is witnessed by Thomas Noble & Robert Burgess.
