and thereby indemnifying John Barrett of said debt, and they have caused to issue a capias satisfaciend against PLTs body on foot thereof for £13-17/5 directed to the Sheriff of county Longford who by virtue thereof on 19 March last seized PLT’s body and committed him to county Longford gaol where he ever since remains in close confinement although in truth PLT never did execute such a counter bond to John Barrett, and if John Barrett did get such a counter bond to indemnify him same was obtained from said James Brock, junior, and not from PLT. or of PLT. did sign same it was obtained from PLT when PLT was much intoxicated with liquor and PLT prays that inquery may be made into the matter. Defts to answer, inter alia: Did not PLT or said Aungier Gordon, Esq., deceased, said Anne Smith’s brother-in-law by PLT’s direction pay John Barrett for his use or to said John Clifton the intire principal and interest due on the first bond. Prays that writs may be granted against John Barrett, Anne Smith alias Barrett, Charles Beaty, Robert Beaty, John Clifton and Isabella Beaty. Bill entered 10 June 1731

Memorial of deed of assignment. Reciting that whereas Sir Alex Cairnes Bart., by lease dated 18 Feb. 1723[-4] to farm let to Robert Smith and John Dyer that house in the town of Monaghan formerly inhabited by Robert Barnes and a garden thereunto belonging, together with a part opposite William Watson’s and then occupied by Archibald Moore, containing 80a. 1r. 15p. English measure, to hold from 25 March the last part for the lives of said Robert Smith, Alexander Smith son of said Robert Smith, and of Dorcas Armstrong daughter of Thomas Armstrong of the Cummingwarren bridge, and survivor of the at £4 rent. For said house and garden, and 10/- per acre for the part. Whereas John Dyer transfered his interest in the premises to Robert Smith on 22 June 1729. Witnesseth this 1st July 1729 Robert Smith in conson of the sum of £14-17/3 ½ paid to him by John Beaty of the town of Monaghan, gent., made over the above premises to John Beaty: to hold from 25 March the last part for said three lives.

This memorial witnessed by said Henry Hargrove and Hugh Waddell, gent. of Monaghan, and executed 21 July 1729 by Robert Smith.
