Longford, gent., dec'd for 6 years before he died upwards of 10 years ago, and who was possessed of Springtown, Co. Longford, and Tromroe, Co. Westmeath. That Springtown was worth £50 profit yearly at that time and is now worth £60. That a writing was executed by John Beatty, dec'd, to Deft. Pakenham Beatty, which writing was in existence after the death of John Beatty [signed] Robert McCally.
Joseph Caddy of Creeny, Co. Cavan, Clerk, aged 40. Knows all the parties except the minors, for 20 years. Knew John Beatty of Springtown, Co. Longford, dec'd, for 5 or 6 years. Knew John Beatty of Springtown, Co. Longford, dec'd, for 5 or 6 years before he died about 13 or 14 years ago. That Pakenham Beatty is his eldest son and was provided for in H. M.'s Revenue “through the influence and interest which the said John Beatty's wife had with one Mr. Pakenham since deceased,” and that Deft. John Beatty, third son of John Beatty, dec'd, was provided for as Hearth Money Collector in H. M.'s Revenue through the same interest. [Signed] Joseph Caddy.
William Thompson of Clonfin, Co. Longford, gent., aged 40. Knows all the parties, except the minors, there 10 or 12 years. Knew John Beatty of Springtown, Co. Longford, gent., dec'd, 2 or 3 years before he died upwards of 9 years ago, and that he was possessed of valuable household goods, furniture and farm stock, and also of the lands of Springtown, Co. Longford which was valued at his death at £400, viz: at 5/- per acre, because the Dep't was one of the valuators, and which lands are now worth 8/- per acre. That Defts Pakenham Beatty and Ann Beatty widow received the profits of Springtown since the death of John Beatty. Was present when the goods of John Beatty were valued together with one Mr. Andrew McCally, since deceased, and one Mr. Charles Young who valued same. [Signed] Will: Thompson.
Thomas Burrows of Killyconnan, Co. Cavan, gent. aged 40. Knows all the parties, except the minors, there 20 years, and knows the minors John and Catherine Beatty there 2 or 3 years. Knew John Beatty of Springtown, Co. Longford 15 years before he died in May 1729 and that he dec'd possessed of valuable household goods and furniture and farm stock, and that Ann his widow possessed herself of said household goods; that John Beatty also died possessed of the lands of Springtown Co., Longford, and Trumroe, Co. Westmeath; that Springtown was worth at time John Beatty died £50 profit yearly, and is now worth £90; that Pakenham Beatty the eldest son was provided for by said John Beatty in His Majesty's Revenue; that Pakenham Beatty executed articles with John Beatty, dec'd, whereby Pakenham was to give £100 to each of the three daughters of John Beatty, and which articles was deposited in the custody of Claud Beatty or his wife, both since dec'd; has heard that upon some dispute between said John Beatty, dec'd, and Pakenham Beatty, said Pakenham and John went to Claud Beatty's house to cancel said article, but that same was not cancelled at that time, but was some few days before John Beatty died.
