I order the following debentures now in my custody for safe keeping to be paid in my lifetime be given to their right owners as follows in Grand Canal 6%'s to Mary Simpson £1000; Miss A. Simpson £500; Mrs. Redmond in trust for her two daughters £250, and also in trust for her two sons John and Rowland Redmond £200 and in trust for the support of her son William Redmond in College £300; and in trust for Mrs Mary Anne Orr's daughter £100 and I appoint Miss Mary Simpson and my son James to manage said trust monies for said two Miss Redmonds and for said two Master Redmonds and Miss Orr, and I order the remaining £50 part of the legacy of £100 debenture given to Mrs. Redmond by my brother's will be paid to her, and also to J. McVitty his own £100 and to my wife her own debentures of £150 to which I add £200 more, and besides £50 more to be sold for her pocket money, and to my second son James Betty £900.
Also that said debentures as are in the 5%'s shall be handed to their owners in my lifetime; viz: to Miss A. Simpson £250; to Miss Mary Simpson £250; to James Betty for Mrs. Redmond's daus, the Miss Redmonds £100; to said John McVitty £350; to Cook Laghran, £20.
A saddle horse to be kept for my daughters till they marry and the coach and horses to be maintained for the comfort of the house by my son Wm.
Whereas I have purchased the next turn or presentation to the Church living of Old Castle and Castle Corr, alias Killride, united from the Right Hon. Lord Dunsany by deed dated 25 April 1817, which parishes are situated in the Cos. of Meath and Cavan, discese of Meath, and are still in the incumbency of Rev. Thomas Frederick Knife; my title of said presentation to be vested in my son James Betty, Perrott Thornton, and Right Hon. John Radcliff in trust that my son James Betty shall appoint my son Wm. Betty (now in holy orders) to said parishes when vacant, and if my son Wm. die and if my son James take Holy orders he to have same, and should both sons decease said right to be vested in said trustees and my exors.
I order the three debentures of 3 ½% devised by her uncle I will to Mary Simpson be handed over to her, and to Mrs. Caldwell her own three debentures of £25 each in 6% Grand Canals without control of her husband in case I should not dispose of them for the next renewal of her jointure out of the lands of Meachy for her and her daughters use.
To John Betty apothecary £10 for a ring as a token of my friendship for him and the like sum to my friend Perrott Thornton and the like sum on same account to William Patterson, now at Demerara, and to my old friend James Lawler as a token of affection my case of double barreled pistols and holster, and to my son William my own gold watch, and to my son James my seals.
To the poor of the parish of Templeport where I was born and passed my junior days, £20, to be distributed by my friend James Lowder, Esq., and Mr. Bushe the rector of Templeport.
Appoint my son Wm Betty residuary legatee.
To my old friend Wm. Humphreys £10 for a ring and appoint him with my sons Wm and James Betty to be Exors; and said son James Betty, Parrett Thornton and J. Radcliff to be trustees.
