the matter went. That Deft answered it went well with him for he had got a decree agst. Hughes. That Plt. said he was glad of that because said business had cost him many a penny. I know that, said the Deft., for I have paid a great deal of your money for it. Interrogations on behalf of David Betty, Deft. at the suit of John Rea, Plt.

1.Do you know Plt. and Dft., and for how long? Did you know William Betty, deceased, (father of Deft.) while he was alive, and how long did you know him? Did you know the late Earl of Carlingford?

2.Do you know the lands in the barony of Corran and lands in Tallycossen More, barony of Leyney, co. Sligo, that were set out on account of the debentures of Wm. Betty (Deft’s Father) for his service in Ireland, and what quantity of acres were set out to him in the barony of Corran, and what acres in the lands of Tallycossen More, and when set out whether before or after the death of Wm. Betty?

3.Have you heard that the late Earl of Carlingford was restored by H. M.’s letters patent to said lands, when was he so restored and put in possession of sd lands, whether before or since the first sitting of the Court of Claims, and was not Deft.’s late father to have reprizalls [sic] for same. And whether he had reprizalls [sic] set out to him in his lifetime? If so how long before his death?

4.Do you know what agreement was made between Plt. and Capt. Henry Hughes to exhibit a claim in the Court of Claims and for what quantity of land in Tullycossin Beg and Tullycossin More, and what quantity of said acres so claimed then belonged to Deft. and what to Deft, and was not Hughes by said agreement to get forth certificate and letters patent of sd lands, and were not sd lands to be claimed in Deft.’s name by Plt. as his guardian, or how were they to be obtained?

5.Do you know that Plt. gave Capt. Hughes any or what monies to procure to Plt. a lease of the lands of Lisleagh from the Earl of Carlingford and are not sd lands situated in the barony of Corran which were set out on account of the Debenture of Deft.’s late father, and did not Hughes accordingly promise a lease for Plt.?

6.Do you know what agreement was made between Plt. and Deft. in relation to the lands in the baronies of Leyney and Corran, and did not Plt. by virtue of sd agreement exchange his lands in the barony of Lyney (or the reprizalls [sic] for same) for Deft.’s land in the barony of Corran (or the benefit of reprizalls [sic]for same), and what number of acres in the barony of Leyney did Plt. exchange with Deft. for his lands of Corran and how many acres in the barony of Corran did Deft. exchange with Plt. for the lands in the barony of Leyney?

7.Do you know as to Capt. Hughes passing certificate of letters patent for the lands in the barony of Leyney in his own name, and
