Arthur Beatty and Wm. Tweedy, exrs. of Charles Beatty, plts.
John Smith, Richard Bartlett, Walter Brampston, Edward Beatty, Charles Beatty, Laude Beaty, Wm. Beaty, WM. Eccles (&Mary Boater); defts.
Amended 15 Feb. 1732(3); answer 26 Jan. 1732(3); name of answerer not taken.
Arthur Beatty and William Tweedy of Co. Cavan, Exrs. of Charles Beatty, deceased, say that John Beatty, the complaint. & Arthur’s father, possessed inter alia, a farm called Gortondarragh, Co. Monaghan [Fermanagh in last bill] for 51 years from 1 May, 1675. By his will dated 1681, he left this to his sons Samuel and Robert. He died soon afterwards. Said Samuel Beatty died in his minority, intestate, without issue having three brothers, the said Robert, Charles Beatty and your supplt. Arthur Beatty and one daughter (sic really sister) Anne Beatty, also Smyth. After Samuel’s death, Robert entered into possession of Gortondarragh, went abroad in the army and died in Flanders 1710, leaving a natural son Francis Beatty, but no lawful issue. Francis Beatty died 1727.
[Note. I see I did not look at the end of the bill to see who Claud, Wm & Mary Beatty were. This should be looked into. Old John of 1681 had seven(?) children, all probably dead before Samuel. Charles & Arthur were much younger than their brothers & are called in their father’s will of 1681 “my two little sons”, while their eldest brother John married in 1663.]
