Depositions on behalf of Plt. taken at the house of Mary Gillcriest at Granard, Co. Longford, on Tuesday 27 Sept. 1744, by virtue of a Commission out of the Court of Exchequer directed to William Thompson, Thomas Burroughs, Thomas Donaldson and Alexander Slater, Com'rs.
Charles Cavenagh, of Toreen, Co. Longford, clothier, aged 60. Knows Plt. Charles Beaty & Defts James Macartney, Francis Gorden, and Anne Gordon alias McCally. Does not know Deft. Hugh Henry. Knows Charles Beaty 20 years, James Macartney 7 years, and Francis Gordon and Anne Gordon alias McCally since their infancy. Knew Aungier Gordon of Robinstown, Co. Longford, Esq. but did not know Hon. James Macartney, Esq., Justice of the Common Pleas. That Aungier Gordon is dead these 21 years, the Dept. knows because Dept. lived in the neighborhood with Plt. Charles Beaty and with Deft. Francis Gordon and Anne Gordon alias McCally for many years. That James Macartney is dead, this Dept. having been his tenant under a lease of Toreen, Co. Longford executed by Jas Macartney. This Dept. was also a tenant to Aungier Gordon whom he knew since infancy. That Aungier Gordon made a lease for 21 years to Garrett Cavenagh, Charles Dobbs and this Dept. of the lands of Toreen about 29 years ago at £22 rent and 40 days duty of man and horse, but does not know what agreement Claud Beaty made with James Macartney in lieu of said duty, but that this Dept. and partners paid to James Macartney's agent Francis Wilson £2 yearly in lieu of said duty work for the space of 8 years. Does not know the lands of Lisnabararty. Knows the lands of Kilbride, Balenecrosses and Toberphelin, but not the value thereof. The lands of Toreen worth £18 yearly from 1727 to 1736 and from 1736 to this day worth £28 profit, and said profit was paid to the agent of James Macartney from 1727 to this day because this Dept. is tenant of Toreen since 1727. Patrick Masterson of Toreen, Co. Longford, farmer aged 40. Does not know the value of Kilbride, Ballenecrosses & Toberphelin. That Toreen from 1726 to this day worth £40. [Signed:] Patrick Masterson [His Mark]
Oliver St. John of Cartronbore, Co. Longford, clothier aged 44. Does not know the value of Kilbride, Ballenecrosses & Toberphelin from 1722 to 1732, but that Toberphelin & Kilbride from 1732 to this day worth 7/- per acre, and Ballenecrosses from 1732 to this day 6/- per acre. Dept. lives in neighborhood of sd lands many years, and was tenant for a short time on Toberphelin. [Signed:] Oliver St. John.

Longford, Esq., who died about 22 years ago, knows because this Dept. lived in neighborhood with Plt. Chas. Betty & Defts Francis Gordon and Anne Gordon alias McCally for many years. Knew
